Tidsånd

Tidsånd, meaning ‘the "spirit of the age" or "general trend of thought or feeling" during a specific period’, a series of images follows a creature statue (painted and invented by myself years ago) as it reappears across imagined moments in history, from medieval pilgrimage and scientific revolution to authoritarian futures. Presented as documentary photographs, each scene uses pink clothing, fruit and animals as recurring symbols of belief, obedience and manufactured happiness. Drawing from English literature, religious iconography, knightly mythology and works such as 1984 and Brave New World, the series examines how institutions reshape truth to preserve power. The creature remains unchanged while each civilisation invents a new meaning for it, revealing more about themselves than the object of worship.
